    Just a Moment?

It's a rag of a notebook. The green cover looks like it just cleaned up a sink full of dirty dishes. Sometimes its wire binding gets caught on my shirtsleeve as I leaf through time. The first journal I ever kept is worth digging up and digging through on occasion.

March 19, 1995 -5:23am The beginning of my life.

That's how it starts on page 1.

Thumbing forward a few weeks: Today, so far, has been full and inspired...

A couple months later: It has been a hectic week so far...

A few more months: I am starting the day well. I felt so lousy in the last couple weeks...

I have dozens of journals in this same box... including a positively ink-filled Celebrate Recovery Journal (what a great tool)!  They each reflect thousands of victories, disappointments, triumphs and mistakes . Each holds hundreds of pages, and each page was once an empty space, a fresh clean inauguration of opportunity.

... But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”  (Philippians 3:13, 14)

What are you going to do with this New Year, this new day, this new moment? C.S. Lewis wrote, “This moment contains all moments.”
