#5 Resource Table Part 2

WOW, I didn't know talking about resource tables would generate so much interest! But you know really it should ,because Newcomers who may be afraid to ask questions, will pick up information off your tables to read. So thanks for the emails about your resource tables.

This week see how Celebrate Recoveries all over the country are making the most of an opportunity by impacting Newcomers with their resource tables. These pictures can help you can brainstorm to present your table more effectively. We actually have had a good resource table. But after seeing what some of you are doing, we're kicking ours up a notch!

A favorite verse of mine is Col. 4:5, "Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity."

Also we have received a lot of interest in t shirt ideas so next week we will show you some we have seen, used, and others we came up with at our local CR . What a great way to get the word out...wear it!

#8 Helping the Newcomer Feel Welcome

I received an email the other day from a potential visitor and here is what it said….

“I am interested in your Celebrate Recovery program but am scared to come to a strange place. Could you maybe explain a little more to me? Where would I go when I arrive? How do I know where my group meets? I know these are silly questions. I just don't want to drive there and then be afraid to come in.”

So I emailed her right back, and in all my wisdom said, “Don’t worry, just come on in and ask for me." Well, guess what? She was found sitting in her car crying and scared to death to come in. Fortunately, John saw her as he passed her car on his way in noticing her distress and said, “Is there anything I can do to help?” In her strongest, bravest voice she responded something like, “No I am OK." And who hasn’t said this even when its visible things aren’t “OK”?

We can all remember a time when we entered a room full of people and wondered if anyone was going to speak to us. What a frightening place to be! Well John knew what to do. He went inside, found a woman to go back outside and invite her in. By the time I heard about it, she was surrounded by women, had a great place to sit and was looking forward to going to Newcomers 101.

It is VITAL that we are conscience of those who are around us. It’s so easy to fellowship with those we know and let the Newcomer fend for themselves. My rule is if I’m talking to you , who I know very well, and out of the corner of my eye see someone I don’t know, I will immediately let you know we’ll finish our conversation later.

Remember we "Get To” be God’s ambassadors to the hurting. We will talk more about this next week.
